As an advocate for the community, I know what can be achieved when our community is engaged with our city.
As an activist, my work includes encouraging the community to participate in creating a livable community and being stewards of our local natural resources. Innovative development of public spaces and developing a natural environment can lead to a higher quality of life. With this in mind, I co-founded Sustainable Berea, a group that engages in initiatives that promote and create awareness of sustainability at the local level.
I plan to promote the work of Sustainable Berea in future additions for the Berea News. I will keep you informed about what can be done to establish a healthy and livable environment.
Thank you for reading what I am sharing with you.
-Erika Coble
Over the past two years, Erika Coble attended Berea City Council Meetings. She spoke up for the concerns of her neighborhood. When concerns were not addressed, Erika engaged our community so the concerns would not be ignored. When concerns were given lip service but left unsolved, Erika sent emails and updates to educate the community and encourage Bereans to attend city council meetings. This persistence shapes policy and most recently led to defeat the construction of a massive 200,000 square foot, 5 story nursing care facility on the shores of Coe Lake.
