Submitted Candidate Introduction

Signed School Board Pledge

I’m running for re-election to the school board because I’ve dedicated my adult life to service. I care about children, their well-rounded education, and their futures. As a volunteer in the BCSD schools since 2004, the community, the Ohio PTA, and a public school educator for 28 years, I’ve learned the importance of advocating for children and giving selflessly. As a first-generation American and a daughter of immigrants, my parents always stressed the importance of sacrifice, hard work, and commitment. As a first-generation college graduate, I understand the needs of our students and families. As a mom of 2 recent graduates and a current sophomore, I know the history of the district and the areas for improvement. As a current school board member, I have been recognized as a Master Board Member and a recipient of the Award of Achievement by the Ohio Schools Boards Association. I understand the role of the school board, the hard work involved, and am ready to continue working collaboratively and respectfully for the children of the district.

3 Top Concerns for Berea City Schools

  1.  Continue academic growth
  2. Celebrate diversity
  3. Maintain fiscal responsibility

We have a history of providing an excellent education. Recent program additions and new courses have given students even more opportunities to receive a high-quality well-rounded education. Included in that is celebrating the differences between us, learning from each other, and making sure all students receive what they need. We need to continue our strong financial management, which has been able to make our last operational tax levy last 9 1/2 years.
